Coach David Fiedor will head coach the Walled Lake Western Warriors JV baseball team for the 2020 season. Coach Fiedor has been coaching baseball for over 10 seasons, this will be his first at Western. He founded and runs the Commerce Cannons travel baseball organization so he’s acutely aware of the competitive landscape of baseball in SE Michigan.

“We are blessed to have a lot of talented baseball players in our area at all the Walled Lake schools, especially at Western. I’m looking forward to the season and competing.” Coach Fiedor says his calling card is developing players and will have that as his guiding principal this season: “Our focus this year is going to be development over wins. We want to prepare our players to have success at the varsity level in years to come”.

Speaking of Varsity, Coach Justin Kucera takes over the varsity squad at Western this year in his first season. Coach Kucera has been coaching the Western JV team in prior seasons. Coach Fiedor has this to say: “Coach Kucera has re-programmed the mentality at Western for baseball. He’s approaching it as a whole program that happens to have 3 teams, not 3 teams that happen to make up a program. His vision includes an emphasis on the student athlete and accountability which I support 100 percent.”

Tryouts for Walled Lake Western and high schools state wide begin March 9th. The Walled Lake Western baseball season for all levels starts in late March.
