Cannons Commitment to Safety

Hello Everyone,

The Commerce Cannons have made a vow to continuously improve year over year in the area of health and safety. All of the coaches in the Cannons organization are concussion-trained in partnership with “Heads Up”. In addition to this training, all head coaches are provided, by the organization, a first aid kit and ice packs to treat minor injuries that may come up during the season. New this season, a trauma kit will be on the Cannon home field site in the event of a major injury.

Also new for the upcoming season, additional training materials were provided to all head coaches to address a potential off the field issue… all coaches were provided material on Suicide warning signs and risk factors. This is a commitment by the Cannons to attack a leading cause of death of our young people. Coaches are a trusted voice, and consequently have a lot of interaction with youth. This trusted bond can be utilized in a positive way for coaches to notice potential changes in behavior in youth sports players. Within one of the most picturesque, fascinating, and historically significant state parks in southeast lower Michigan, our goal is to combine the former Haven Hill estate history with Highland Recreation Area’s existing amenities, wilderness, and recreation.
